Description

From the jungle heat of Panama to the sandstorms of Iraq, the men and women of the US Armed Forces have counted on the Beretta M9 pistol for over two decades of distinguished service and reliability. The commercial M9 pistol is the closest replica to the military M9 that a civilian may legally own. What sets it apart from the 92FS is:

  • Distinctive military style markings: on various components closely replicate those of the US Armed Forces M9 pistols.
  • Unique M9-prefixed serial number: (M9-xxxxxx) sets this configuration apart from the other 92 series pistols.
  • ‘Dot-and-Post’ sight system: clones that of the M9

As good as they ever were.

I was issued a M9 in the 1990s and I’ve owned 92s on and off since then. This pistol feeds, fires, extracts, and ejects as well and is just as smooth as any of those. I’d say that the evenness of the finish is actually better than at least some of the 92s I owned in the 2010s. I also appreciate that the M9 variant is not marked-up with a ton of safety warnings and serial numbers like current 92s (especially the Italian-made ones). Now, this pistol does include the more recent polymer and polymer-coated metal parts: guide rod, trigger, magazine release, mainspring cap (lanyard loop), and left safety lever. I’ve heard that later M9 contracts included these parts as well, so I suppose they could be considered “correct”, but if they bother you you can switch them out with metal OEM parts fairly easily (the safety lever is kind of a PITA). In any case, I’ve never heard of the polymer parts giving any trouble and they probably are technically superior. If you make just one modification, change out the heavy stock hammer mainspring for the reduced-weight Beretta “D spring” (used on Beretta’s double action only D-variant 92s). It’s simple, inexpensive, and it makes the pistol SO much more enjoyable to shoot. This pistol comes with 10-round magazines, but if you live in a non-restricted state 15+ round magazines are readily available. This was my first purchase from Gunprime, but the process could not have been any smoother. My pistol was shipped fast and Gunprime easily had the best price. I would definitely do this all over again.
